Tips for a Chill Wedding Day from New Orleans Wedding Photographers

So much anticipation and excitement lead up to your big day. All the important people in your life gathering together, all the budgeting and planning and back and forth with vendors, it’s bound to be at least a little stressful.

Let’s be real. It’s A LOT stressful!

We get it. Over the years shooting hundreds of weddings, we’ve seen it all. The good, the bad, and the ugly. And we’ve compiled a list of things we’ve noticed tend to make your big day run more smoothly.

With no further ado:

Hire a wedding planner/coordinator.

This should go without saying, but hiring a wedding planner you trust and vibe with is crucial to a stress-free wedding day. They are professionals and can see ten steps ahead, always anticipating disaster and planning accordingly for rainy days, toppled cakes and difficult family dynamics.

Choose your vendors wisely.

From florals to event rentals to caterers, it takes an army to pull off a wedding. Make sure you trust your vendors professionally and enjoy their company personally. They’re going to be around all day, so it’s vital to a stress-free day that you trust their vision and you all get along.

Remove distractions.

You’ve got one job on your wedding day, and that’s to celebrate your love. Have a friend hold onto your phone to keep distractions to a minimum, and let your wedding planner field any questions.

Envision your perfect day.

As the old saying goes, “thoughts become things.” Setting an intention for your wedding day will keep you focused on what’s most important. Who do you want to spend the most time with? What do you want the getting ready vibe to be? What words/references feel right for your ceremony? Focusing on the bigger picture will keep the little things from driving you nuts.
