Alexis and Jeremy’s surprise Louisiana backyard wedding was such a special one. Anyone who knows anything about southern culture (particularly the culture of South Louisiana) knows that the heart of this culture is the food.. along with the music, and the art, and the people, and the energy, and the community. Runaway Boucherie where all of these things come together. Jeremy is a chef and the two of them are part of the Runaway Boucherie family. Family seems like the most appropriate word for this group of creatives, and it only makes since that Alexis and Jeremy would want these people to be a part of their wedding day.
Jeremy describes the boucherie as “a chef’s symposium of sorts where the methods and ideals of traditional communal animal slaughter are on display. The idea is to reconnect modern chefs with the virtues and corporeality of the food supply chain.”
We showed up at Alexis’s hotel where her mom and best friend were helping her get dressed. They met up for the sweetest first look before they surprised everyone for their wedding. Jeremy said his favorite part of the whole wedding day was Alexis and her dress (and the champagne of course). I LOVE first look moments. I think their first look hug picture might be one of my favorite pictures I’ve ever taken. Then we headed off to the party to surprise everyone.
So by this point, we still really had no idea what the Boucherie would be like. We followed Jeremy and Alexis into a house on the property in Grand Coteau to go over the game plan of how they would start the wedding ceremony and before I knew it, we were all walking out onto the field where these two would promise their lives to each other. That’s when I realized how flipping awesome the Boucherie was. People were camping out in tents, playing music, cooking food, celebrating life, and little did they know, soon to be celebrating a wedding. Everyone was surprised and thrilled to see Alexis walking down the aisle to marry Jeremy.
Huge thanks to:
