Quite a few months ago we announced that Thad was leaving his full time job to photograph love birds with me. (If you missed it, here’s the link). To sum it up, Thad shot his first wedding (ever) with me about 2 years ago. About six months later, we were planning the transition for Thad to go full time with me. The business became much more ours than it was solely mine. We began the journey to re-brand Caitlin Guidry Photography.
I remember sitting on the couch at our old townhouse helplessly brainstorming new names for a brand that would represent us as a husband and wife photography team. We had quite a few terrible ideas. Some of our friends call us “Thaitlin” and I would be lying if I said that that didn’t cross our minds for one brief second. Although we went back and forth about using “Caitlin + Thad”, our hearts were pulling us in a different direction. We thought a lot about our own love story and where this career fit into it. We thought about the obstacles in our relationship that we have had to overcome by owning a business together, and we thought about how much deeper our relationship has grown since we shot that first wedding together two years ago. Photographing love is such a huge part of our relationship because the love that we witness brings us back to the love we have for each other.
We wanted the name to represent how our own love story influences our work.
September is the month that Thad and I got married and promised to do forever together. It is also the month that Thad became a full time photographer. The month of September represents the season in our lives where we took huge, scary risks that have completely changed our lives. That’s where the name comes from. “September Company” is a symbol of our love for each other, as well as the season for the inevitable merge of our individual photography approaches. It is a mix of adventure and romance, as well as fun and emotion. We hope to combine heirloom quality images that are as authentic as the love portrayed in them. You are our inspiration and by listening to your love story we are endlessly inspired by you.
We also have to give a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Ravyn of Three Fifteen Design who has been so great to work with. She set us up with the perfect logos, tagline, mission, and mood for this entire brand and we could not be more thankful! She envisioned the brand we were fighting for more than we could have ever imagined.
